3. Managing Access Points

On the Access Points page, you will see three sub-menus:

  1. Access Points.
  2. Access Point Types.
  3. Notifications.

You should set up your Access Point Types first, then your Access Points .

Access Point Types

Access Point Types are named types of Access Points that have similar characteristics.

You need to add at least one Access Point Type to use NoahFace. You can add access point types using the Add Access Point Type button, and edit and delete them from the context menu next to each access point type.

Adding Access Point Types

When you add an Access Point Type you will see the following dialog:

You should provide a generic Name for your Access Point Type such as:

  • Time and Attendance Kiosk

The Platform setting indicates whether this is for Kiosk or Mobile use. To set up Mobile access, please refer to the NoahFace Go Setup Guide.

The Registration method setting indicates what form of identification users must provide during registration. See the next section on Registration Method Options for more information.

The Biometric storage setting indicates where biometrics are stored locally on each iPad or are shared with other iPads (via the Cloud) during registration. If each user always uses the same access point, you should leave this set to Local.

The User consent setting indicates whether users are required to explicitly give their consent to store photographs and extract their biometrics. If this setting is enabled, consent must be granted during the registration.

The Manual use setting indicates whether users are allowed to use NoahFace without registration, and therefore without capturing their biometrics or using facial recognition. The options are:

  • None. The user is not able to use NoahFace.
  • Photo. The user is able to use NoahFace to clock in/out, open a door, etc. Their photo is taken, but their biometrics are not extracted/stored.
  • No Photo. The user is able to use NoahFace to clock in/out, open a door, etc. Their photo is not taken and their biometrics are not extracted/stored.

If manual usage is allowed, the Registration method is used for user identification – with the exception that methods that don’t make sense for manual usage are automatically translated (eg: List+Admin translates to Passcode ).

The Clock position setting indicates whether a time clock should be displayed on the home screen, and if so where it should be displayed.

The Screen type setting indicates what type of screen should be displayed when a user is recognised. Once you have selected a screen type, you can further configure it (eg: change the text on buttons) by filling in the Screen details . The full list of screen types and the options available for each one can be found here: https://www.noahface.com/kiosk-screen-configuration

The Screen timeout setting indicates how long the screen (such as the clock in/out screen) is displayed on the iPad.

The Sensor type setting indicates whether you have a temperature sensor attached to your access point. To setup Temperature Screening, see the NoahFace Temperature Screening Setup Guide .

The Notification setting indicates where events should be sent from the Cloud. For example, to a payroll system so that workers can be paid for the hours they worked.

The Receiver type setting indicates where events should be sent from the iPad. For example, to an access control system to open a door.

Access Points

Access Points are the kiosks or iPads where users interact with NoahFace.
